Bordeaux Hotels and Bordeaux Accommodation
(Bordeaux, Gironde, Aquitaine, France, FR)
Bordeaux is a lively city with plenty of accommodation on offer, ranging from inexpensive hotels and hostels, to more upmarket establishments. The majority of hotel accommodation in Bordeaux is reasonably priced and particularly favours anyone looking for an affordable city break or holiday destination.
Availability is usually not a problem. However, during Bordeaux's popular wine fairs, visitors are advised to book accommodation ahead, as wine amateurs and professionals flood to the city - and its hotels - in their thousands. Bordeaux's tourist office offers a useful free hotel booking service.
Bordeaux Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Bordeaux, France, FR
At the luxury end of the market, Bordeaux boasts a limited number of exclusive hotels. These provide a high standard of accommodation and amenities. They range from modern chic at the Bayonne Etche-Ona, to the more traditional surroundings of the Hôtel Budigala.
Most of Bordeaux's mid-range accommodation can be found in the area between the Place Tourny and the historic St. Pierre district. Many of these feature good old-fashioned, comfortable rooms with plenty of character. Others offer clean and functional accommodation with all the facilities you would expect for the price. Hotels in this area of the city have the added advantage of being close to many of Bordeaux's major tourist attractions, including its many museums and historic buildings. There are also plenty of budget accommodation options, including Bordeaux's modern youth hostel, which combines low prices with up-to-date facilities. Cheap and cheerful accommodation can also be found in plentiful supply around Bordeaux's main railway station, the Gare St. Jean, although this area is not ideal unless you're just passing through the city.
Bordeaux also has a campsite, which is located in forested, riverside surroundings just south of the city centre. For families looking for accommodation during the warm, dry summer months, and who don't mind being outside the city centre, then this makes for an inexpensive alternative to hotel, or bed and breakfast lodgings.
